The details: I'm an adult, but I live with my uncle. Big house, no need to pay rent. Great. car is registered there, phone, credit cards, everything. I live there in life and on paper. Several months ago we had a fire. I lost a good $25,000 in high end japanese airsoft gear and replica guns (not real firearms). Some things could be considered sporting goods. Some things could be considered collectables, or general hobby gear as they have no sporting purpose. I have receipts for everything, credit card bills etc. I also have before pictures, and pictures of what is left of some of the items... Many things just ceased to be, plastic and aluminum turn to liquid quite easily. We didn't specifically insure the items by themselves. We need to look at the details of the policy still, but does anyone know roughly what limits there might be to a claim on such items? Default limits on sporting goods, collectable items, etc. The policy coverage for personal items is $110K, we're only going to claim about $35K in loss total. But we all know the insurance won't pay for anything if they don't have to.
