We (1 adult, 1 child) are on Medi-Cal (full, no share of cost). Even though I work, my income is low enough to qualify. This April, I received a rather large tax refund (Earned Income Credit and Child Tax Credit). According to information I found online, these tax credits are not counted as INCOME, so I didn't worry much about it. I had to spend some of it right away to pay off debts; however, I realized, because of this payment, we were over the Medi-Cal property limit during the week or so the whole amount was in my account. Of course I have to report all this to our case worker. Will we lose our benefits because of this tax credit? Or will there be penalties?
