Open Question: what should i do if lost national insurance card?

i need to take proof of national insurance to a job interview but think i have lost the card- i have perviously wrote down the number but don't have proof of it, the interview is next week so i know i prob wouldn't be able to get a replacement in time. is it ok to just tell them the number?
