Open Question: Is the Plan Sponsor # and the Policy # the same thing?

I'm required on a form to give my Policy #, but on my insurance card, all that I can find are the "Plan Sponsor #" and the "I.D. #." I'm not sure which one it is, but the Plan Sponsor # has 10 digits and the I.D. # has nine digits followed by another two. Can anybody tell me which one is the "policy #"?
