Open Question: In Australia, should I get private medical insurence for dentist and optomitrist?

I worked out I only see a dentist twice a year which is about 120 bucks, and optomitrist once a year which is about 80 bucks. I didn't need anything further other than a check up at both. My mum pays for me about $800 a year for private insurence, but it seems like i only pay $200 for the services if I didn't have insurence. Seems stupid. I only claim the glasses that are 'free' because they are 'free', though she really pays the remaining $600 for them. Insurence seems so stupid.
