Open Question: do i need to sign paperwork as a beneficiary of a will?

Ok, here is the gist of the question I need answered. My Aunt passed on, she was the matriarch of our family and I believe I wasn't included in the will but my family are making out that I am. I just wanted to know that before or when I receive the monies do I need to sign paperwork acknowledging that I will be receiving or have received the money? it seems like there should be a paper trail saying that I received the money.
