The MDA telethon 2011 and Jerry Lewis have officially ended their professional relationship. During the opening of the 2011 telethon, Nigel Lythgoe (American Idol), spoke to the controversy, making it seem like Lewis "retired" ... which only caused more chatter.

Legendary entertainer Jerry Lewis was synonymous with the event and hosted it from 1966 to 2010. In fact, it was even previously named the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon.
