Is apple juice safe to drink? That's the question a lot parents are asking themselves after popular television show host Dr. Oz claimed that trace amounts of arsenic in many apple juice products could be dangerous.
ABC News Senior Health and Medical Editor Dr. Richard Besser says that's nothing but a scare tactic.
Dr. Besser says apple juice contains both organic arsenic which is safe, and inorganic arsenic which can be harmful, but Dr. Besser says there's not enough of the inorganic arsenic in apple juice to affect anyone's health.
Dr. Besser says apple juice and many other products contain inorganic arsenic, but the government strictly regulates the amount.
The FDA says its own test results on juice did not support Dr. Oz's findings.
Some of the most popular apple juice brands like Mott's and Gerber are also firing back, saying their products meet all safety standards.
